About Sargam

My journey with tabla began at a young age, drawn to the intricate rhythms and expressive capabilities of this classical Indian percussion instrument. What started as a childhood fascination has evolved into a lifelong dedication to mastering and sharing the art of tabla.

Musical Training

I was fortunate to begin my training under the guidance of Late Mr. Ustad Faiyaz Khan, who introduced me to the foundational techniques and rich traditions of tabla playing. This early education instilled in me a deep respect for the classical approach and the importance of discipline in musical practice.

Currently, I continue to refine my skills under the mentorship of Mr. Ustad Akram Khan, a master of the classical tradition. This ongoing training has allowed me to develop a distinctive style that honors traditional techniques while embracing contemporary expressions.

My formal education has complemented my musical training, providing a strong theoretical foundation to support my practical skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Percussion Music (Tabla) - Miranda House, Delhi University (2013-2016)

Performance Highlights

Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of performing in various settings, from intimate cultural gatherings to international stages. A particularly meaningful experience was representing India in the India-Canada Cultural Exchange Programme in April 2012, where I performed in 15 concerts across Oakville and Toronto.

These performances have not only allowed me to share the beauty of tabla with diverse audiences but have also enriched my own understanding of how this instrument can bridge cultural divides through the universal language of rhythm.

Teaching Philosophy

As a teacher, I believe in creating a supportive environment where students can develop both technical proficiency and creative expression. My approach combines:
